The free breakfast was amazing. 3. We were a little disappointed in the beach area, but again it was Mackinaw, not Myrtle Beach. 4. Insects were a problem. Mostly annoying lake flies, perhaps strategically placed bug lights might help. 5. Mackinaw City Chamber of Tourism was also very helpful. The complimentary items in our package were unknown to the hotel staff, but the Chamber was quick to get a resolution. We loved our time at Mackinaw and wish to return. The room with a balcony overlooking the lake was awesome. The reason I gave a good rather than outstanding rating is because my bedspread had a stain on it.
