Comfortable room except TV wasn't. working and we did not call for service since we were only staying.one day. Last year we had a downstairs Lakeview room . This was great. The only problem with upstairs 2nd floor room this year was the one elevator that was available to take us to our room down long hallway at other end made me.opt for parking close to room and walk up stairs. Not too bad because I only have minor mobility problems. So I guess future stays might include long hallway or early reservations for 1st floor room. We alerted the front desk and per our request he removed the lock otherwise we couldn’t enter the room . The room was clean and neat. The frig worked great . Loved being so close to the water. I believe the grab and go breakfast could be changed back to a hot breakfast for all . We had to search for coffee and found it hidden on the 3rd floor . Unfortunately we had a very bad experience at the outset. Either myself or someone there had mistype a digit in my credit card number so there was no valid card. They did attempt to call us, but I was on the road and my phone classed the call as potential spam, so I didn't answer. When we got there our reservation was gone. We were not happy. My wife got very upset with the manager and they almost kicked us out with no where else to go. We eventually worked thru it and got a room and then had to move the next day to a lakeside one. So, in the end all was OK. However, many other places I have stayed have processed the credit card when we make the reservation and may or may not take a deposit, but that action eliminates the possibility of someone getting to a hotel and not having a room because of some inconsistency with the card number. During our stay we heard this same manager on the phone with another guest about an invalid credit card and so I wonder if they have someone who keeps making this kind of error.These comments are from a verified stay

Breakfast and desserts are amazing, and all of the staff were so kind and accommodating!....She is amazing and incredibly attentive, especially considering she has a full house to take care of! Our suite was lovely, view amazing and the location can't be beaten. We will stay with Rose again, if we get to make the trip again next year! Very attentive and friendly. We loved the towels folded into swans. I would have given 5 stars, however, we felt let down by the "free breakfast" that was advertised on the sign and on the website. The website showed a real breakfast (e.g. waffles, etc.), but they only offered a brown bag with an apple, tiny granola bar, and water. The balcony was big enough that had 2 chairs on it.. The room was adequate furnished and was clean with ample amount of soap, shampoo etc. Desk personnel was friendly and helpful. The Hamilton Inn is a new hotel and is near the city with sites near by along with ferry to Mackinac Island. Highly reccomend to buy your tickets while making reservations, I did the ticket to Island and also the trolley ride across the bridge that picks you up at the hotel. My little girls bugged them every time we walked passed and they just smiled and responded to them. The only draw back is online it stated that free breakfast was included. That was one of the things I wanted when searching for a hotel. But it was only a bagged sack which I know with covid this property changed everything but the sack could of been closer to breakfast items. Dry cereal ,orange juice, muffin, yogurt, etc. It was only an apple granola bar and water. That is the only thing that kept me from giving 5 stars. I will visit this hotel again though I loved it. Hotel was nice but outdated & the staff was very courteous.
