Front desk staff was both friendly and helpful. Breakfast "bar" was loaded with stuff, and refilled frequently. We happened to go during a festival weekend, and the breakfast area was packed. The staff was helpful and kind as always. We will stay there again on our next visit hopefully next year. We really like the Hamilton Inn as we have stayed there three times now. Our only complaints are minor and not enough to not recommend it to our friends and family. On our first day our room had no towels and we had to go to the front desk to get some. I booked the room two days prior to our arrival and on the next day after booking the room the rates dropped twenty dollars per night. We were staying three nights so that was an extra sixty dollars plus tax that we had to pay. We were told we could not have the reduced rate because we were inside the 72 hour cancellation window so our reservations could not be changed. Your website says lowest rates guaranteed but I guess not. I did not even book 72 hours in advance. This was a spur of the moment decision and it cost us. I will not book in advance again but I will watch the rates and if they go up I will not go the next time. Lesson learned. The final complaint was that in our opinion the breakfast was not as good as it has been in the past. It was advertised that pancakes were being offered this year as something new but there wasn't any during our three days. Also the food did not seem as good as the sausage was very greasy and gravy seemed watered down for the biscuits.These comments are from a verified stay

Front desk service could be improved by more thorough routines and detail-checking to keep guests from having to double-back things like ferry tickets location information within the hotel, which could use s few directional signs or a map. Fourth floor rooms are stairway access only, which was OK for our trip but should/could have been included in the information. Front desk location is opposite the entry which creates a crowd when guests don't just move their groups to the otherwise spacious area. Maybe a greeter/crowd wrangler/concierge-type station/person prominently near or at the entrance could help with that and some of the other directions/location details, relieving the Reservations staff of that additional and distracting task. Room was immaculate, everything worked properly, location was quiet, parking ideal, shuttle to the ferry was amazing. The hotel was very clean and well-maintained. The kids enjoyed the beachfront property immensely. We would have liked to see improvement in the hot breakfast foods. Also, although the staff was very friendly and helpful, they didn't seem to have a great understanding of the local attractions and how to give directions.
