We loved the towels folded into swans. I would have given 5 stars, however, we felt let down by the "free breakfast" that was advertised on the sign and on the website. The website showed a real breakfast (e.g. waffles, etc.), but they only offered a brown bag with an apple, tiny granola bar, and water. COVID was the blame, but we were directed where a full breakfast was offered. The balcony was big enough that had 2 chairs on it.. The room was adequate furnished and was clean with ample amount of soap, shampoo etc. Desk personnel was friendly and helpful. The Hamilton Inn is a new hotel and is near the city with sites near by along with ferry to Mackinac Island. Highly reccomend to buy your tickets while making reservations, I did the ticket to Island and also the trolley ride across the bridge that picks you up at the hotel. Only problem we had was one bathroom light over the vanity was out, we had to ask twice for it to be fixed. And one of the TVs did not work correctly, we asked twice for it to be corrected. My little girls bugged them every time we walked passed and they just smiled and responded to them. The only draw back is online it stated that free breakfast was included. That was one of the things I wanted when searching for a hotel. But it was only a bagged sack which I know with covid this property changed everything but the sack could of been closer to breakfast items. Dry cereal ,orange juice, muffin, yogurt, etc. It was only an apple granola bar and water. That is the only thing that kept me from giving 5 stars. I will visit this hotel again though I loved it. Hotel was nice but outdated & the staff was very courteous. We had a great view of the lake, and got a bonus fireworks show on Friday night! The A/C was a bit loud, but that’s not unusual for many hotels. I had brought some ear plugs so I was fine. Like most customers, we understand the effects of the pandemic on continental breakfast. However, we had stayed at the Best Western Dockside several days earlier, and the difference was like night and day. If you asked for it, Hamilton handed you a paper bag with a bottle of water, and apple, and a small granola bar. There was no coffee or orange juice available.
