Free breakfast was at another hotel across the street. Food was decent. The breakfast dining area was hot due to the crowd and not enough seating. Cabins Of MackinacCabins of Mackinac Monica from Fort Wayne stayed in October 2017Day at island great and star ferry great. Loved out room at hotel. However even with repeat called to the front desk, I was never able to get connect d to their WiFi. I even told them I needed it for work. The indoor water park was not that. It was an indoor pool with a kiddie play area. The play area was run down with many features not working. The pool water was cloudy to the point of barely being able to see the bottom. The hot tub was so cloudy I couldn’t see even the top step when getting in. The ventilation system was very poor. The interior was oddly laid out but clean. The view on the site is not the view that you get from most of the rooms. We did not have a blanket on our bed upon arrival. Only downside was the size of one of the two bedrooms in the two bedroom chalet. The door did not open fully due to the queensized bed. It was a bit inconvenient to climb over the bed or continue to close the door to get around the bed. Made sure everything was okay. The guy who checked us in was nice. Took a ferry to the Island. Came back. Checked in. Went to the cabin and walked into paradise. It was beautiful. Cabins Of MackinacCabins of Mackinac Judith from Cedar Hill stayed in September 2017The chalet was charmingly rustic and large enough for 2-4 people; we had 2 people plus 2 dogs, 80 lb each, and plenty of room.There were plenty of towels: I would have liked a microwave. The place was clean. Breakfast across the street was plentiful and delicious. Ferry tickets were cheaper to buy at the desk than at the ferry itself. Negatives: the fridge had been disconnected and water was running out of it. The phone was dead. As we walked our dogs, we saw a non-functioning ice machine sitting in front of one of the units and a rusted-out statue of a bear lying in the grass. The outside of the chalets and cabins were just short of shabby. Overall, for the price, and compared to actual hotels on the Mackinaw waterfront, it was a good deal. No basic instruction or orientation at check in. Had to walk to another hotel to get breakfast and go to beach 😟 Big mix up with bill,(overcharged) finally resolved 2 days after we finally got home. Pre ordered Mackinopoly game ( didn't have it in stock but we did finally get it before we left), sunset cruise on Ugly Anne (which was wonderful from beginning til the end! Very friendly staff !!!), and sunset bridge trolley tour (which they cancelled). The one thing that they went out of the way for me was that I plan to build a little log cabin on property I have in Port Sanilac and the gentleman was kind enough to show me one of the cabins with a loft that was not occupied so I could get an idea of what I wanted to build and it pretty much was just what I want to build adding a fireplace.These comments are from a verified stay102 people found this helpful. And, when our wall heater unexpectedly malfunctioned and had a brief period of sparks and flames shooting out of it, the manager completely refunded our room fee. A discount would have been enough, but he would not hear of charging us. Cabins Of MackinacCabins of Mackinac Valerie from Indianapolis stayed in August 2017I liked the bathroom décor, very up-to-date. I also liked the other room. It was very clean, the carpet was nice. The bed felt hard when I sat on it for the first time but I was very comfortable when I laid down. It was a nice surprise. The maid was there when I returned to my room. At first we did not speak but as soon as I asked her a question she was very helpful and friendly. The only thing I was not too happy with was when we called the front desk because we needed an iron. We had to go to the front desk to get it, instead of someone bringing it to us. This was in the morning. We had not seen the maid at this point. I have been to Mackinaw at least three other times. The location was perfect for us as we had no transportation, because we flew onto the island. We were unfortunately unable to use the waterpark because we arrived late. One thing I did not understand was being called twice while on the island because I had not confirmed out reservation. It says nothing on the website about needing to confirm after the reservation was made. I have never needed to "confirm" a reservation for a hotel. Just seems odd. What a Great Choice that turned out to be! While some of the cabins have some age on the exterior, they are very well maintained and the interiors were Wonderful! Waking up in the mornings to feel and smell the crisp, fresh morning air made the cabin atmosphere Complete! We will be returning to the Cabins of Mackinac again! Great Job! Not only did we have a great time in your City but our trip to the Island was something everyone should take the time to do. The restaurants and many shops were just great. The cabins had an amazing charm to them that made us feel at home. Once again, the staff at "The Cabins of Mackinac" were amazing and made us feel welcome. All of us are planning on returning next year to make it an annual thing and would think of staying no where else. See you next year! We wished there had been a futon or cot in the loft. We ended up using the sofa cushions to make a pallet for our 3rd granddaughter, who wanted to sleep up there with her 2 cousins. The second night there the bridge closed and the desk booked someone else into our cabin - it was very distressing to my wife to have someone enter our cabin unexpectedly around 11:00 at night.
